is looking for a doctoral researcher starting 1 st March 2026 or later

PhD Student│Doctoral Student│Research Assistant (m/f/x)

in the research area of

System Thinking and System Dynamics in the Circular Economy

for the DFG Forschungsimpuls ‘Real Circular Economy of Natural Fibre-Based Material Systems (CE4NWS)’

in part-time with 85% of the regular weekly working hours of a full-time position.

The position is limited until 31 st December 2030.

Your areas of responsibility include

  • system analysis of circular economy systems and their stakeholders
  • qualitative / quantitative modelling of circular economy value chains and their socio-economic and environmental impacts
  • analysis of transformation processes in the development and design of circular economy systems
  • publication of research results in international journals and cooperation with other universities, institutes and companies
  • support of the research group in cross-departmental tasks relating to communication, network development and teaching


Your qualifications include

  • an above-average master’s degree, preferably in engineering, computer, natural sciences or economics
  • system thinking, system modelling and simulation methods, e.g. System Dynamics
  • preferably knowledge in circular economy, recycling technologies, business modelling, or experience in life cycle assessment (ISO 14040 and 14044)
  • high degree of independence, motivation and reliability combined with the ability to work scientifically and understand complex, interdisciplinary contexts
  • very good spoken and written English, sufficient German language skills (at least B1 level)
